IBB’s endorsement of APC rattles PDP

THE recent applause of the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, is said to be causing ripples in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Findings by Saturday Tribune revealed that the national leadership of the PDP is not comfortable with the comments credited to Babangida at his Minna, Niger State home on Thursday, while speaking with journalists.
According to media reports, the former military president expressed joy over the emergence of the APC, saying that it was good for the political development of the country.
Babangida was reported to have claimed that his position on the desirability of a two-party system in the country when he was in the saddle, which led to the formation of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the National Republican Convention (NRC), had been justified.
It was reported that when asked whether the development would not pose a problem for his party (PDP), Babangida retorted: “PDP or my party? Which one is my party? PDP was my party,” and was said to have

Ripples as Gov. Uduaghan Refuses Assent on Death Penalty for Kidnappers

Although the menacing issue of kidnapping is not peculiar to Delta State, there appears to be confusion especially between the members of the Delta State House of Assembly, who are constitutionally empowered to make laws for peace and good governance; and the State executive governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Presently, the two arms of government are engulfed in cold war on how to address the issue permanently. While the 29-member State House of Assembly, on one hand, voted for outright death penalty for anybody caught in the act of kidnapping to act as deterrent; the governor, a medical doctor by training is vehemently opposed to it.
It is no longer news that DeltaState had witnessed series of high profile kidnapping ranging from kidnapping of commissioners, lawmakers, judges, mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and even a 70 year-old cousin of Governor Uduaghan. Gov Uduaghan Ironically, the 70 year old cousin of the governor, Pa Sam Uduaghan was abducted on a fateful Wednesday morning, the 13th day of June last year,

Nigerian Gay and homosexual Church Resume Operations In Lagos

Less than five years after Nigeria-only gay church, House of Rainbow, was attacked by some Lagos residents and consequently closed down in Nigeria, the church has returned to the country with three secret groups in the African most populous nation.
With this development, Nigeria appears to lead other countries where the church currently operates.
Founded by Nigerian-born gay, Rev. Rowland Jide Macaulay, House of Rainbow, which came to Nigeria in 2006, is “an inclusive and affirming religious community open and welcome to all people including sexual minorities and marginalised people, a monthly gathering of ‘people of faith’ for ‘prayer and praise’, which focuses on the person’s journey towards reconciliation of sexuality and spirituality.”
Macaulay, a trained lawyer and son of a reverend who owns a massive church in Lagos, is leading the comeback even though he remains in self-imposed exile in London, where sources said he currently enjoys lots of financial sponsorship for the movement.
Unlike in the pre-2008 when the church openly operated at Jakande Estate, Isolo, and Berger in Lagos,

Babies Born Three-Months Early Can Recognise Human Speech - Study

The research gives a new insight into the way mothers communicate with their babies - and how language skills develop

Brain scans reveal babies born THREE MONTHS early can recognise human speech - and even distinguish between male and female voices.
Babies born up to three months premature can recognise different syllables in human speech, say scientists.
A study showed similarities in the way the brain processes language in the new-borns and adults - including specific neurological reactions to changes from the 'ba' to 'ga' sound and to a male to female voices.
Professor Fabrice Wallois, of Picardie University in Amiens, France, said the findings suggest that early in the development of the brain it begins to decipher distinct sounds or 'phonemes'.
He said as early as three months before birth a baby's brain establishes neural functions that help decipher human speech.
At birth children can discriminate some syllables and recognise human speech but how these immature brain cells process it remains unclear.
Using powerful non-invasive scanners Prof Wallois and colleagues analysed 12 sleeping premature infants

President Jonathan To Visit Maiduguri On Thursday?

Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak - See more at:
Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak

A presidential aide on Friday said President Goodluck Jonathan was not afraid to visit any part of the country contrary to insinuations in some quarters.
Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, stated this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent.
Gulak was reacting to Thursday’s visit of governors of the parties in the newly formed All Progressives Congress to Maiduguri, Borno State, where insinuations were made that leaders should be courageous to visit any part of the country.
Borno State has remained the centre of activities of the fundamental Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
Jonathan has not visited the state since the insurgency, which has claimed several lives, began in 2009. Vice-President Namadi Sambo was there recently.
The governors said they chose Maiduguri to prove a point that “there should not be a no-go area for any

EU Approves Medication That Quenches Urge To Drink Alcohol

The European Union has given the green light for the sale of a medication that will help quench the urge for alcoholics to drink, the companies behind the new treatment said Thursday.
Selincro, developed by Finland's Biotie Therapies, reduces "alcohol consumption by approximately 60 percent" or about a bottle of wine a day after six months, Danish drugmaker Lundbeck said.
With the go-ahead from the European Commission, Lundbeck, which will manufacture the medication, said it expects to launch Selincro by the middle of this year.
Selincro is mainly aimed at reducing alcohol dependence in adults who drink heavily -- consuming up to six drinks a day -- but who do not suffer from withdrawal symptoms or need detoxification.
"Selincro is thought to reduce the reinforcing effects of alcohol, and thereby reduces the urge to drink

Playboy Mansion Holly Madison Plans To Eat her Placenta After Giving Birth

Holly Madison, former Playboy bunny says she wants to eat her placenta after her first child is born. Holly is due in March.
And her reason for doing that is she hopes the pills will help her recover after childbirth.

“This might sound gross, but I’m totally planning on having my placenta turned into pills I can take after giving birth,” she wrote on her blog.
“I heard it helps women recover faster and I want to recover as quickly as I can!”
As strange as it sounds, it turns out Holly isn’t the first Hollywood mom to try this.
In Sept. 2011, January Jones revealed she consumed her placenta in pills after she gave birth to her son.

I Won’t Sign Any Artiste Until P-Square Stops Singing - Jude Engees Okoye

This is what Jude Okoye said in a recent interview with HipHop Magazine.
Keep in mind sometime in August last year, Square Records had dumped May D who had released few hit tracks under the label including ‘Ile Ijo’, ‘Soundtrack’, and the remix he did with Akon and P-Square.

According to the statement signed by Jude, the split was due to the irreconcilable differences between the two parties. And the dumping had come as a surprise to MayD.

Here's in full, what Jude said and why he says he ain't signing anyone else.
I don’t know about Peter and Paul but me personally I won’t sign any artiste until P-Square stops singing, that is the same thing I said  when you asked me why I’m not shooting videos for other artistes, everyone that comes under this umbrella will start comparing.
Let me give you an example, one of the issues we face is that, when you bring in an upcoming artiste who has not being invited to even play just one show and you’ve spent like 15million on

Convicted killer caught trying to escape prison in a suitcase carried by his girlfriend

The plan was foiled when guards spotted his girlfriend struggling to drag the wheeled suitcase as she walked towards the prison gates
Jails in Venezuela have banned visitors from bringing in suitcases - after guards caught a contortionist trying to escape.
Convicted killer Gavinson Garcia - who is just 5ft 3ins tall - folded himself into the bag brought to Yare II prison in Caracas by his girlfriend Susana Blanco.
But the plan was foiled when guards spotted Blanco, 22, struggling to move the wheeled luggage as she walked towards the prison gates.
Unzipping the case, they found a semi-naked Garcia, 24, curled up inside.
Prison sources think the couple planned the escape thinking Blanco would, as was customary, only be

Pilot falls asleep on the plane TWICE at 35,000ft over the Atlantic

A pilot nodded off behind the controls of a passenger flight then blamed his UK hotel rooms.
The unnamed captain was flying an Air New Zealand 332-seat Boeing 777 when he fell asleep TWICE for a matter of minutes, it was revealed today.
He reported it to the authorities himself and blasted a top London hotel in a report, complaining he could not sleep because rooms were “too hot or too cold”.
The pilot told how he had three room changes in two days during a London stop-over because of problems with air-conditioning.
He said the lack of sleep, combined with only having a one-night stop in Los Angeles on his initial journey to Britain, lead to him nodding off on the return flight .
In his ‘fatigue report’, he wrote: “I suddenly, and without any warning, fell into a deep sleep on the flight deck.
“Despite the room changes in London, my rest prior to duty was much improved but still not of the highest

Male Student Wears Wrapper To School; Wins 20K Bet

Hello KD Blog readers, I know this might sound and appear crazy but it's true.

A pre science student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (Mbaukwu Campus) shocked everybody yesterday Thursday 28/02/13 when he wore a wrapper to school.

The student who is in E2, earlier had a bet with some guys in his lecture hall that he could wear a wrapper to school and the guys promised to give him #20,000 if he did. Guess what? The dude took the risk but lo and behold, after he stepped into his hall, the gals who could not hide their amusement started shouting, yelling and chanting.

The noise eventually attracted the security officers to the Hall and the boy was fished out & planked with heavy logs of wood. These action nearly stirred a riot in the school, as students detested the brutality saying

Damoche’s murder: LASU deserted as school mgt, SUG, react

 Damino Damoche

Students and staff of Lagos State University, LASU, have kept off from the campus following the brutal murder of a rising hip-hop artiste, Olaniyan Damilola, popularly known as Damino Damoche, at the school gate, Thursday afternoon.

Pandemonium and confusion reigned supreme yesterday after the killing of Damoche as students and others who have anything to do in the school hurriedly left the campus for fear of being hit by assailants’ bullets or being arrested by the police.

When Vanguard visited the campus today (Friday), what used to be a beehive of activities with human traffic was scanty and a shadow of itself.
Meanwhile, the school management and the students union have reacted to the murder of the student.

Is Kim Kardashian faking her pregnancy?

Media are starting to think that Kim Kardashian might not actually be pregnant at all and her and ’Ye West are doing a Beyoncé/ Jay-Z, or a Katie Holmes/ Tom Cruise style faking it while a surrogate does all the real work and pops a baby out later this year that they’ll pretend is theirs so people stop thinking that Kanyé’s gay and they rake in millions of dollars in the process.
The 32-year-old certainly seems to be suffering from an up and down of the baby bump and, given that she’s due in June – which means she’s currently five months pregnant, appears to be having trouble looking anything other than she has done for years when wearing this see-thru top as she left her Los Angeles home yesterday.
Just the other day though, she had the makings of a bump.
And, she’s been happily flying all over the globe since she learned that she was pregnant last November which is generally something they advise women against doing in the early stages of pregnancy as well as

Court: "Jonathan is Free to Fulfill His Presidential Ambition In 2015"

An Abuja High Court on Friday dismissed a suit that sought to bar President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the 2015 presidential election.
It will be recalled that Chief Cyriachus Njoko, a member of the PDP, filed the suit in March 2012.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi held that Jonathan had not yet served two terms as substantive president.
"The first defendant [Jonathan] neither contested the office of the president before 2011 nor got nomination of his party to contest same election before 2011.
"Jonathan, to my knowledge, in 2007 contested the general election as a vice president and nothing more.
"Section 135 (2) of the 1999 constitution spells out the tenure of the President to be four years single term, while Section137 (1b) prescribes that the President can only be administered with Oath of office and Oath of allegiance twice.
"In the case of Jonathan, his mere assumption of the office of the President was necessitated by what the National Assembly described as doctrine of necessity because of the demise of late President Umar

With no pope, Catholic Church leaderless for now

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Catholic Church awoke Friday with no leader following the resignation of Benedict XVI, who pledged obedience to his successor and described himself as "simply a pilgrim" starting the final journey of his life.
Now begins a period known as the "sede vacante" or "vacant see" — the transition between the end of one papacy and the start of another.
During this limited time, several key players take charge of running the Holy See, guiding the College of Cardinals in their deliberations and organizing the conclave of cardinals whose votes elect Benedict's successor.
With the 8 p.m. Thursday end of Benedict's papacy, every department head in the Vatican lost his job — except for those whose offices are considered crucial for the smooth running of the transition period.
On Monday, the cardinals begin meetings to set the conclave date and discuss problems facing the Catholic

British Prime Minister David Cameron humiliated in election rout

EASTLEIGH, United Kingdom  (AFP) – British Prime Minister David Cameron was under pressure Friday after his Conservatives were beaten into third place in a key election by his scandal-hit coalition partners and a eurosceptic party.
Cameron admitted it was a “disappointing” night for his party after the Liberal Democrats held the parliamentary seat of Eastleigh in southern England in a contest billed as the most important British by-election in a generation.
The Conservatives had hoped at least to come in second but they were condemned to third place by the anti-European Union and anti-immigration UK Independence Party, which registered its best ever performance.
The vote was sparked by the resignation of disgraced former energy minister Chris Huhne, a Liberal Democrat who has pleaded guilty to trying to avoid a speeding fine.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, whose own position as Lib Dem leader had been on the line after a collapse in the party’s poll ratings, said the “stunning victory” showed they “can be a party of government

Explosions rock Maiduguri as Jonathan plans visits

MAIDUGURI — Six persons were, yesterday, feared dead as four major explosions rocked Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
This came as nine governors in the All Progressive Congress, APC, gathered in the troubled city to push the merger plans of the country’s leading opposition political parties.
Several others were injured in the explosions and are receiving treatment.
The governors in a communiqué vowed that they would rescue Nigeria from what they described as a visionless leadership.
The explosions occurred simultaneously on Baga road, Customs and Gamboru areas at about 3p.m, while a fourth exploded at London Ciki at about 6p.m.
A top security source regretted the incident, claiming that the state administration may have triggered the incident through the invitation of the APC governors to the state as he said intelligence reports had advised against the meeting.

Six feared dead
An unconfirmed report from a hospital source said six dead bodies including security operatives and civilians were brought to the mortuary of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, while those who sustained

APC Governors venture into Boko Haram’s den, in Ridicule of Jonathan, PDP

Eight Governors of the APC’s 10 were at the meeting in Borno, North Eastern Nigeria. Eight governors from the major opposition parties met on Thursday at the Government House, Maiduguri, Borno State where they continued discussion on the formation of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
They also discussed the prevailing insecurity bedeviling Borno and Yobe States, both governed by the All Nigeria Peoples Party. Maiduguri is the hotbed of the Boko Haram insurgency and the governors appear to have ventured into the city to shame President Goodluck Jonathan who is yet to make a state visit the Borno State capital. The governors met in the troubled city in spite of reports of explosions in a part of the metropolis.
Eight out of the ten governors who met earlier in Lagos were present in Maiduguri. While Yobe Governor, Ibrahim Geidam, was represented by his deputy, Abubakar Aliyu; Governors Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo and

Nigerian woman divorces her husband because he is a talkative

A 38-year-old Nigerian housewife, Mrs Mariam Adunni of Omoda Area, Ilorin,Kwara state has been granted her wish by the town’s Area Court to dissolve her six-year-old marriage.
Her ground for dissolution: her husband has been an untamed chatterbox.
Adunni told the court that her husband,Garba Ajani not only talked too much, but also did not keep family secrets.
“My husband is fond of sharing our family affairs with his relatives and friends,” she told the court, adding that the defendant has had no time for fun with her and their children.
She said: “My husband has no trust in me, instead he shares his problems with friends and relatives who will mislead him.”

“I am tired of him because I have tried my best to change him and he is not ready to cooperate,” she said.

Marc Anthony Shows off New and Much Younger Girlfriend after breakup with Jennifer Lopez

The singer stole a kiss from his lady love. Marc Anthony has a new muse to inspire his romantic ballads.
The 44-year-old crooner went public with the new – and much younger – woman in his life, Chloe Green, on Tuesday. And where did the new couple make their big debut? Disneyland!

We’re not sure if it’s new love – or the fact that they were at “The Happiest Place on Earth” – but Anthony and 21-year-old Green clearly seemed to be enjoying themselves during the Anaheim, California, outing, which included Anthony’s twins with ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, Max and Emme, who recently celebrated their 5th birthday. The star had his arm around Green, who is the heiress to the Topshop fashion empire, and even gave her a smooch as photographers snapped away.

Kanye West Jabs at Taylor Swift again?

More than three years after the most famous VMA interruption of all time, Kanye West still thinks Beyoncé is better than Taylor Swift.
And just like last time, it was an awards show that set him off. During a performance in London over the weekend, the rapper ripped into a slew of people and companies during an 11-minute rambling rant … including, once again, the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer.
“Taylor Swift beat Beyoncé at the Grammys?” he bellowed into the mic during a tirade, which also took aim at Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie,” according to MTV News. “Beyoncé be dancing in heels and s**t.”
We’re not sure if Kanye was once again sipping on a bottle of Courvoisier – which he blamed for his 2009 outburst – but last we checked, Beyoncé and Swift were not even nominated in the same category at this year’s Grammys. Swift only won one trophy, for Best Song Written For Visual Media (“Safe and Sound”)

PHOTO: Couple Jump-Off Bridge In China In Suicide Pact

Pictured: A person jumps off the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge in Hubei province at buttom far off picture [look more closely]

This is the moment a newspaper photographer trying to take a snap of heavy fog that had blanketed a bridge captured a couple’s suicide leap.
The photographer had been standing on a viewing platform ready to take a snap of the fog shrouded bridge across the Wuhan Yangtze River in Wuhan, at Hubei province in central China.
He said: ‘The mist was so thick on the bridge so large that it looked as if the bridge was standing on and disappeared into air. Like a bridge into nothingness.
Police identified the man from some of the possessions he left at the top and said he was a 20-year-old migrant worker named as Liu Han.‘To be honest I didn’t even see the first person jump because I was concentrating so much on the camera settings and I didn’t realise at first that I had snapped the man jumping to his death
‘It was only then after snapping the photograph that I heard someone shout that somebody had jumped. I heard him hit the water below and then seconds later a woman climbed onto the bridge and jumped as well.

Wikileaks: Boko Haram Is A CIA Covert Operation [Must Read]

A [Op-ed]:
We have already been regaled with reports provided by the Wikileaks which identified the US embassy in Nigeria as a forward operating base for wide and far reaching acts of subversion against Nigeria which include but not limited to eavesdropping on Nigerian government communication, financial espionage on leading Nigerians, support and funding of subversive groups and insurgents, sponsoring of divisive propaganda among the disparate groups of Nigeria and the use of visa blackmailto induce and coerce high ranking Nigerians into acting in favour of US interests.
But beyond what we know from the Wikileaks report, what many Nigerians do not know is that US embassy’s subversive activities in Nigeria fits into the long term US government’s well camouflaged policy of containment against Nigeria the ultimate goal of which is to eliminate Nigeria as a potential strategic rival to the US in the African continent.
According to wikileaks article on ACRI which potrays the ACRI as a counterweight which was set up by the US to instigate mistrust in Nigerian dominated ECOMOG; the sense of nigerian led anti-american opposition was first observed in during the bush administration, when nigeria without support from the west

P-Square building another massive house in Parkview Estate Ikoyi

Peter, Paul and Jude Okoye have been building the new house at Parkview Estate since June last year. According to a source close to the twins, the new house, which will also be a twin duplex like their Omole Estate home, will be called Squareville2. Squareville2 is costing them more than their Omole Estate mansion.

I gathered exclusively that the Okoye boys bought the land in Parkview Estate for N200million and will spend another N200m to erect their dream home. They will be shuttling between their Omole home and this new one, which will be completed before the end of the year.
