Police arrest armed robbery accomplice after 10 years of evading arrest (PHOTO)

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has arrested a 33 year man identified as Obina Okoli who is described as a notorious receiver of stolen goods and a key financier and recruiter of hijackers who terrorize major highways  in Lagos and other parts of  the country.
Obinna, who had evaded arrest for 10 years was finally arrested recently at his home in Onitsha, Anambra state. Police reports say Obinna received over 80% of all hijacked or diverted goods in Lagos and other adjoining  states from 2003 to 2014. He's also said to have sponsored and maintained over 50 different gangs of armed robbers, including military personnel, who he'd used in perpetuating his criminal activities.

One of his accomplices, 38 year old Imo state born Emeka Ikenga who was arrested in 2010 had identified Obinna as his sponsor and the facilitator of his robbery gang. Emeka was arrested for hijacking a truck carrying a 40 feet container with goods worth N11 million from its driver on the Benin-Ore Road and subsequently diverting it to Onitsha where it was handed over to Obinna.
Ikenga said they carried out the operation dressed as military and were able to trail the truck through the conductor of the bus who was their informant.

Why Obasanjo Refused To Reveal His Next Of Kin At NIMC Office

Olusegun Obasanjo at NIMC office during the exercise

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo today in Oke-Mosan Abeokuta registered for his National Identity Card (NIC) and decided to keep the information about his next of kin away from the prying eyes of reporters who were bent on capturing his personal data.
Obasanjo who arrived at the National Identity Management Commission office around 1:35pm, quickly had his height measured and finger prints taken. But when it got to the column requiring information about his next of kin, the former president who had been responding orally to the NIMC officials’ questions, picked a piece of paper, covered it with his palm, wrote the name of his next of kin and handed it over to the commission’s personnel.
He then turned to curious reporters and surging television cameramen, and said: “I have decided to keep my next of kin secret and away from you. If you know it, you will give it undue publicity,” the former president

Etcetera's Memo to Nigerian Entertainers: Stop begging for Award votes like politicians

I’ll love to appeal to Nigerian entertainers to stop.
the habit of going about cap in hand begging for votes each time they are nominated for awards. If your materials are good enough and the award process is transparent, I see no reason why you should go about embarrassingly soliciting for votes like a politician.
No award should be given based on public opinion. There should be a “competent” panel of judges selected to review the nominated materials and advise the organisers who the winners should be.
It calls to question the motives of award organisers. Same goes for the numerous music talent shows in Nigeria today. Have you ever wondered why all telecoms companies in Nigeria have a talent hunt show
attached to their names? It is very simple. Television is the biggest means of communication in the country today. It reaches millions of people residing in cities, towns and villages (those who are lucky enough to have electricity). You can find a wide variety of entertainment on TV daily. I owe no apology working for President Jonathan - Reuben Abati

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, had an in depth interview with the Nigerian Tribune where he addressed his very vital role in the government, and criticisms by former colleagues that he changed as soon as he became part of the GEJ administration .

How challenging has it been for you managing the president’s media affairs?
I am not complaining. I mean, every work has its own challenges. There is no work anybody would be engaged in and there would not be challenges. That, certainly, is not an issue. But if I may make effort to answer your question, I think one key observation in terms of what I have experienced on the job is the fact that you have to keep explaining things to people.
You have to keep reiterating issues all the time. You can’t put out a statement or explain an issue and assume that people already have accepted your position or that they understand or that your message has been communicated. So, this is a major challenge.
Often, you listen to people, they make some statements on television or they write articles in the
