The African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publishers of the Tribune titles, has denied receiving N10 million through the publisher of Thisday newspapers, Nduka Obaigbena, as compensation for attacks on its operations and personnel by soldiers in June 2014.

Nduka Obaigbena in a letter he sent to EFCC on December 9th, had alleged that the media house was one of the companies he in his capacity as the Chairman of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), gave N10 million as compensation received from the former administration after the military confiscated their dailies in June last year.

A statement signed by Tribune's Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Mr Edward Dickson, reads:

Ibrahim Idris Wambai, the former Accounts Officer II, has revealed that that the Office of Nigeria’s former Vice President Namadi Sambo was on a monthly stipend of N20million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) led by former NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

Some teachers at Anglican High School and Adenle Middle School in Osogbo narrowly escaped being shot when some cultists invaded the school compound and chased out teachers.

Department Of Petroleum Resources Suspends Import Permits Of Capital Oil, Sahara Oil and Folawiyo Petroleum


The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has suspended for three months fuel import permit of Capital Oil Petroleum Limited, Sahara Petroleum and Folawiyo Petroleum in Lagos for profiteering.

Other suspended companies are Samon Petroleum, Fynefield Petroleum, Calabar and Stalliionaire Petroleum Limited.

The DPR said in a statement that the companies sold fuel above government regulated price.

Besides, the DPR slammed the companies N10million fine for their action.

President Buhari yesterday said that his adminstration will soon publish names of those who have returned portions of their loot. 
President Buhari, according to Vanguard said that the Central Bank of Nigeria will soon publicly release the names of those who looted the country's treasury and have returned parts of their loot.

Arms deal probe: I acted in Nigeria’s interest – Okonjo-Iweala

This teenage boy was killed while riding a hoverboard on the streets in North London. Nawaf Al-Tuwayan - who collided with a bus on Thursday evening - is believed to be the first victim of the craze for the £250 gadget.

Toronto Police have laid 640 charges after an investigation into a vehicle-theft ring alleged to have stolen 500 luxury SUVs, investigators said in a conference Friday.
About 175 officers were part of 36 simultaneous raids Thursday that seized an estimated 200 vehicles, 179 of them already in shipping containers to be sent to Nigeria and Ghana.
The total value of vehicles stolen is estimated at $30 million. Eighteen people have been charged.
Investigators believe the SUVs stolen from the GTA were valued at about $60,000 to $80,000 each, but were being sold for half that price in African countries.

Two families who went to the mortuary of the Benin Central Hospital on Friday to pick the bodies of their relatives received the shock of their lives as the corpses could not be found.
The situation resulted in a commotion at the Edo State-owned hospital as the aggrieved family members threatened to shut down the hospital before the arrival of policemen, who brought situation under control.

Woman, 4-Year Old Daughter Assassinated In Benin city, Police Suspects Landlady

 
This is painful! Suspected assailants have killed a woman, identified as Itohan Enagbare, and her four-year-old daughter, Iwinosa, in Benin, the Edo State capital. It was learnt that the incident occurred at the residence of the deceased on Osaze Street, off Dumez Road.
It was gathered that the unknown assailants stormed the 28-year-old woman’s residence at about 1pm on Wednesday, dragged her outside and stabbed her to death.
Sources said the four-year-old girl’s loud cry when her mother was attacked also caused the killers to hack her to death before they fled the scene.
