UPDATE: Naij.com Editor, Yinka Adeparusi, Who Was Declared Missing, Is Dead!

Adeyinka Adeparusi, the award winning photojournalist of NAIJ.com earlier reported missing, has been confirmed dead in an accident.

NAIJ.com confirmed that he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Abuja and died on the spot. Yinka was last seen alive when he stepped out of his apartment at about 1.00 pm in Kugbo area of Abuja on Sunday, November 13, with a brief ‘I’ll be back’.

Friends and colleagues got worried after several calls made to his mobile phone lines did not go through and also he did not make any contact with those close to him or his colleagues in the office.

This was quite unusual because Yinka was a soft-spoken, very professional and clear-headed individual; not the kind of person to wander off.

Yinka was an award-winning photojournalist who graduated from Lagos State University School of Communication, where he bagged double honours in Photojournalism and Cinematography and minor in mass communication.

Among other awards, Yinka received the People’s Choice Award for Human Rights Photography in Africa, German Development Media Awards in 2013 and was the winner of the photojournalism award of the 6th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting in 2011.

NAIJ.com deeply appreciates all the media outfits that helped to push out information about Adeparusi’s disappearance on Tuesday, November 15. Our gratitude goes to Vanguard, QED.ng, Premium Times, Pulse.ng, Daily Trust and Linda Ikeji Blog among others. We also thank other small media outlets who also offered their help. To all the dozens of sympathizers, we thank you too. RIP Yinka Adeparusi from NAIJ.com team
