"Duncan Mighty Lied! We Do Not Owe Him N50m" – Rivers State Government

Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Ibim Semenitari has said Duncan mighty lied in the letter where he accused the State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi of owing him N50m, which is supposed to be a balance of the money he charged the Governor for a Youth Endorsement Concert in March 2011. According to Duncan Mighty, he brought a lot of stars which includes M.I, Banky W, Terry G, Ice Prince, Timaya, I Go Die, I Go Save and a whole lot more to perform for the governor in which he paid him only N10m from the N60m he charged him and promised to pay the rest soon.
Here is what the commissioner told Premium Times about Duncan Mighty’s accusation;
“There is absolutely no truth in that allegation.  The question perhaps you should ask Duncan is to tell you exactly when was he contracted; when it was executed and who contracted him? It is unfortunate when some people imagine that they have attained a status that enables them blackmail others, tell blatant lies and get away with it.”
“Without joining issues with Duncan Mighty, I would suggest that you double check on his antecedents and

Pope Francis Refuses to Use His Bulletproof Popemobile 'Cos He Doesn't Have Much to Lose

Pope on Ditching Bulletproof Popemobile: “I Don’t Have Much to Lose”

In a recent interview with a Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, Pope Francis spoke about why he prefers not to use the bulletproof Popemobile, explaining that at his age he doesn't have "much to lose."

The bulletproof Popemobile was introduced after the attempted assassination of John Paul II in 1981, and favored by Francis's predecessor Benedict XVI. Cool Pope, however, does not have time for that. He told La Vanguardia:
"I remember in Brazil, they'd provided for me an enclosed Popemobile, but I cannot greet the people and tell them I love them inside a sardine can, even if it is made of glass. For me it is a wall. It is true something could happen to me but let's be realistic, at my age I do not have much to lose. I know what could happen, but it is in God's hands."
Vatican officials aren't particularly happy with this choice, and are said to have voiced fears for his safety

SHOCKING VIDEO: South African Doctors Surgically Remove a Cell Phone Stuck in a Man's Throat

A stomach-churning video has been released online which shows a cell phone being surgically removed from a man's mouth. In the video, an unidentified patient at a hospital in Klerksdorp, South Africa, was wheeled into the theatre with the gadget lodged in his throat. Lying in bed sedated with a group of medics crowded around, first, saliva is sucked from his gums and tongue, then metal clamps are inserted to prise out the electronic device.

As the phone slowly emerges, the surgeons' shocked expressions can be heard. Some even break into laughter as they struggle to contain their amazement.

Although the clip has only just resurfaced online, it was originally filmed in May 2012, by Edwin Shingo, one of the medical staff who witnessed the extraordinary scene. The patient is not named and there is no explanation as to how the phone got stuck in his throat. See the photos and Watch the video below:

You are celebrating your 34th birthday anniversary as well as your 10 years on stage, this year. How has the journey been so far?
It has not been an easy one. Though, it’s been interesting, full of ups and downs; sobbing and smiling. But importantly, it’s been rewarding. God has been so good to me. What I have achieved in my 34 years of life, as well as my 10 years as a performer, it’s only the Almighty Lord that could have done it for me. I am so honoured and privileged.
When you look back from where you started 10 years ago, what were the mistakes you made you wished you didn’t make?
I don’t really like to recount my mistakes. This is because I believe that for every

Dora Akunyili: Nigerian Medical Association Regrets Wrong Diagnosis in US

The Nigerian Medical Association has described as “pathetic” the diagnostic recommendations made by the United States medical doctors for the late former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, which allegedly led to her death.

Punch reports that the NMA president, Dr. Kayode Obeme, while speaking at a press briefing on Thursday evening in Abuja, bemoaned the lack of trust for medical doctors in the country by Nigerians, warning that time had come for confidence to be restored in the services rendered by medical doctors in the country in order to stem the tide of Nigerians dying abroad.
He said:
“It is very pathetic; diagnosis was carried out on Prof. Akunyili in Nigeria but like everything in Nigeria, they said ‘go and confirm in the US or UK’. There, they said there was nothing wrong with her, but now it is a different story.
That is why we have been advocating that every Nigerian should have a medical doctor through

5 Reasons Why It’s Perfectly Okay To Be A Woman Who Doesn’t Want Children

Post was sent in by a reader. Do you agree?
Hello Laila, I was reading a post on this blog where readers attacked Oprah Winfrey for saying she doesn't want children and I couldn't help but ask why can’t women want something besides fertility?
In a society where feminism has become a more acceptable word and women everywhere are standing up for their right to lead countries and companies as equally as their male counterparts, do Nigerians realize it's now backwards to chastise a woman who doesn’t want to give up her power for a child? When did it become so wrong not to want to have kids?
Had to send you this article and it's for all the women out there holding their tongue
and desperately wondering how to tell their families, friends and Nigerians that are ever so willing to judge them, that they don’t see themselves giving them kids, grandchildren anytime soon. Here are all the reasons why it's perfectly okay to be a woman who doesn’t want

PHOTO: Tortured boy rescued from kidnappers’ den in Ogun

Fate smiled on an unidentified young boy hawking on Alhaji Jamiu Sulaimon Street in Itele, Ota area of Ogun State on Tuesday evening as he was rescued from kidnappers in the area, just as he was about to be killed.
No 3, Alhaji Jamiu Sulaimon, where the boy was rescued is unarguably one of the most beautiful houses on the street but no one could have imagined the horror discovered behind its high walls.
When our correspondent visited the scene on Wednesday morning, a police patrol vehicle was stationed in front of the compound to ward off curious residents and looters.
Upon gaining access to the house, it did not take long for our correspondent to notice a spatter of blood on the walls of almost all the toilets in the house. One particular toilet had more heavy smears of blood on its walls and door.
A resident of the street, Abdulateef Isa, told our correspondent that the rescued boy used to hawk belts on the street.
Isa said, “The boy is Igbo, he sells belts and he is known by many in this area even though we don’t really know his name.
“He was hawking with his friend yesterday (Tuesday) before this whole issue came to light. His friend, who is also an Igbo boy, knew when he was called into the compound but when he waited for more than 30 minutes

Jonathan to Kwankwaso: You’re a failure and desperate

In what appears as President Goodluck Jonathan’s response to Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s allegation that the President was out to kill him, two ministers apparently acting on behalf of the President blasted the governor in Abuja on Friday.
Separate statements issued by the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, described Kwankwaso as “being desperate and paranoid.” They added that Kwankwaso’s outburst against the President was the height of irresponsibility and an indication of a failed governor.
In a statement made available to one of our correspondents in Abuja by Maku, the minister said Kwankwaso should explain to the people of Kano the role he and the All Progressives Congress played in the emergence of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano, instead of dragging President Goodluck Jonathan to it.
Kwankwaso had on Wednesday accused the President of causing the crisis that followed the appointment of Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.
The governor also said the President should be held responsible for whatever happened to him, his family or

Sudan refuses to release Nyanya bombing mastermind to Nigeria

According to reports, the extradition of suspected Nyanya bombing mastermind, Aminu-Sadiq Ogwuche from Sudan might take longer than expected.
This was attributed to the fact that the Sudanese government has refused to co-operate as they do not have any extradition agreement with any nation in the world.
Ogwuche is believed to have been responsible for the April 14 bombing in Nyanya, Abuja which claimed the lives of about a 100 people.
Vanguard reports:
Saturday Vanguard gathered that Sudan’s refusal to extradite Ogwuche followed the alleged intervention of a powerful Nigerian in one of the traditional institutions in Nigeria. He was was said to have moved in to stop the extradition of Ogwuche using the instrumentality of his Alma Mata, African International University, in Sudan.
Apart from this, Sudan whose President, Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, ICC, for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur, has no bilateral agreement with any country in the world on extradition of criminals.
Reliable security sources in Abuja said that the Nigerian, who has used the Alma Mata on

"We entertainers are prostitutes to telecoms giants" - Singer Etcetera writes...

Singer turned writer Etcetera now comes for his colleagues who collect telecoms endorsement deals without caring about what he calls 'poor' services being rendered by the companies to its subscribers who are also fans of the celebs. Oh please, like he wouldn't collect if Read below...
It all started around 2000 AD, just right after the millennium bug had been crushed. A new era had just begun. With it came the beginning of what is known today as corporate prostitution. The telcos had just landed with their base stations with billions of dollars to spend. At a time when Plantashun Boiz ruled the 36 states and the federal capital territory was left for Age Beeka and his angel Angelica. When the Remedies was Hip hop and the hustle was done with pure zeal and autotune and Styl-plus were still in their mothers’ wombs. Now just a little more than a decade after, in the year 2014, the telcos and their billions have taken over. The whoring has finally begun. With the telcos unashamedly fighting over entertainers’ right before our very eyes, Saka will easily take home the award for the entertainment prostitute of the year. 6 signs that your job is killing you slowly

Sitting for multiple hours a day adversely affects your metabolic functions. In other words, you burn less calories as you sit, which in turn leads to weight gain and a plethora of other health problems like a higher risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Whether you live to work or work to live, there are some scary side effects:

1. It’s making you sick.
A study from the National Science Foundation found that 26 percent of Americans go to work when they are sick, and another 34 percent wait until they experience the “full effect” of their symptoms before they decide to stay home. Not only are offices full of bacteria (like, more than 500 types of bacteria), but your sick desk mate will probably wait until the last minute before heading home early.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also warns against something called “Sick Building Syndrome”: Situations when multiple workers complain of similar symptoms such as headache, sore throat, headache, fatigue, and dizziness and nausea, but no specific illness can be identified. At least office camaraderie will be high when you’re all facing the same mysterious illness together.

2. It’s making you fat.
According to an ongoing Australian health study, sitting for multiple hours a day adversely affects your

"Tattoos are evil + I spend N500k to do my hair" - Muma Gee

Muma Gee who just welcomed twins spoke to Punch about fashion..She said she spends alot on her hair and tattoos are evil..(who agrees)
I am sorry to say this but I believe tattoos are evil. I might be naive and I am not trying to be hypocritical. You leave your skin in the hands of another person and you don’t know what the person is hiding under that inscription on your body. You don’t know when you are given a mark that God wouldn’t want you to have. I don’t wear it and I don’t intend to. If I must wear tattoo, it must be temporary and just for the show of it.
She also says she spends at least 500 thousand to make her hair..She said:
I agree. I invest a lot in my hair. A lot of cash, energy and time go into my hair. It takes like eight hours to get my hair done. Basically, it is a special and patient person that can do my hair. Not everybody has the patience or can be meticulous enough to do my hair. The hair piece alone costs a lot of money, especially in these days of human hair. I normally use 11 packs of

How Nigerian gang smuggled 23 year old girl from Edo to UK as sex slave (PHOTOS)

The plan was only thwarted when Italian authorities spotted her forged ID and sent her back to the UK.
The victim, who only spoke a little English, had been recruited by a Nigerian local called Beneditta in her home village near Benin City. Her family had struggled financially since the death

K-Solo Calls Timaya Out On Instagram! Says Let Kefee Rest In Peace

It seems the beef between K-solo and Timaya won’t stop anytime soon. After Kefee sadly passed on yesterday, her music colleague Timaya, who featured on her popular Kokoroko song went online to say how much he would miss her and how sad it is to lose a friend. But K-solo felt Timaya was not in a position to do that and lashed out at him saying, when she marked her birthday, Timaya did not use her picture on IG, BBM or anywhere and so on.

Don ‘t forget that, Kefee and K-solo were also close, because K-solo worked on different songs for her like he did for Timaya. Check out what Timaya said that led to the drama and K-solo’s other reply after the cut. In all RIP Kefee! Your life was short, but the impact was felt.
Below is Timaya's post that led to the whole drama;

I Left The Music Scene Because I Had To Catch Up With My Childhood - Mo’Cheddah

Mo’cheddah who came back on the music scene with a hit song, “Destinambari” has said in an interview with a soft sell magazine that, the break she took from the music scene was because she was losing touch with a lot of things especially her childhood. She also said her new single was inspired by the popular old Indian film Destinambari.

Why did you decide to take a break at a time your career was blossoming?

I felt I needed the break at that time because I started early as a child artist and I have achieved a whole lot. I won all the awards possible. I won MAMA Award; I won Channel O Award, Dynanix Award, etc. I have done a whole lot of shows too. So it got to a point where I had to take a break because I realized there was a gap in my life.

I missed a lot of things. I missed times with my friends, I missed my childhood; for me, the break was

Did You Notice This Last Night, Guys?

So yesterday, during the World Cup opening ceremony, I bet a lot of us didn't notice this but it actually happened. The organizers of the event made a notorious mistake when they confused our country's flag with Niger's.

During the opening ceremony, a giant globe in the middle of the field presented the 32 flags of the nations participating in the World Cup. And when time came for them to announce Nigeria, instead
of our flag, they projected an image of Niger's flag onto the globe! Niger isn't even participating in the competition.

This isn't the first time the wrong flag has been displayed during a major sporting event. In the 2012 London Olympics, a women's soccer match between North Korea and Colombia was delayed because the
